ABOUT THE OWNER

Carl Grover, the president of Engines, Inc., came to the Huntington are from Logan County on January 15th, 1963. It was the coldest day of his life and all he had was a borrowed suitcase and $50 in his pocket. He still has that old suitcase in case the day comes when he has to pack it and skip town. Mr. Grover has been in business for over 40 years, so the chances of him leaving are slim to none.

ABOUT THE COMPANY

Engines, Inc. was founded in the early 1960’s by Carl Grover, son of a coal miner, and has been standing strong for over 40 years. The very first location was built in Milton, WV and still stands as the companies primary machining shop (Now with heat treat services!). Later down the road Mr. Grover went on to open two more shops. One in Huntington, WV – where the company does its painting and blasting – and one in South Point, OH where most of the welding and fabrication takes place.

So what do we make at Engines, Inc.? Contrary to popular belief, we don’t deal with car engines. The name actually came about because Mr. Grover is a fan of train engines. The company started out by making railcars for railroad companies such as CSX and many others. Now we make railcars, fork trucks, and other odds and ends. The response Mr. Grover likes to give when asked what his company does, is simply this, “Whatever makes us money.” He is a business man through and through but he does like to take care of his customers and employees. That is why we still have many of the customers and employees we started with and gained over the years.
